Merchant Account Companies

Here in the UK, there are only a few merchant account companies. You have to accept the fact that it will take time before you can receive your own merchant account (and earn with it).

Your first option is to go to a UK bank. Natwest, HSBC and Barclays all offer ePDQ services. You just have to inquire to each bank and pick the one that has the most agreeable terms. Unfortunately, if you're a startup (you don't have trading history) or you have limited capital, this option wouldn't work for you. Plus, these are banks we're talking about. You know, they process papers so slowly, you could die from waiting.

If you're a first timer or you need a merchant account ASAP, here's your last bet. The second option is to transact with companies that solely provide online merchant accounts to businesses globally. An example is Nochex. Nochex, as you may have already read in business magazines, is the leading independent online payment services provider in the UK. Nochex and all those other merchant account companies are more understanding, but dealing with them is risky. But your chances of acquiring a merchant account are greater if you opt to get yours from these companies than with UK banking institutions.

Now, you pick which option applies for you. We've given you all the odds.
